Colorado forward Daniel Winnik was called for goaltender interference late in regulation. The Avalanche killed the penalty that bled into the extra session, then went on a power play when Islanders netminder Al Montoya clipped a Colorado player with a high stick.
On the winning goal, Quincey took advantage of a screen by David Jones and ripped a shot from up high that found the twine.
