2026 College Football Transfer Portal Tracker: Top Names Expected To Enter

The college football coaching carousel has already taken us for a wild ride, which could lead us to an even more chaotic transfer portal cycle.

Unlike the last few years, though, the transfer portal won't officially open for all players until Jan. 2, as the NCAA approved to only have one transfer portal window this offseason. That portal will run through Jan. 16. 

While the portal hasn't opened yet, that hasn't stopped some players from either declaring their intention or letting word of their intentions to enter the portal leak out. 

That said, let's take a look at some of the top players who are set to enter the transfer portal.

Michigan WR Semaj Morgan

After three seasons in Ann Arbor, Morgan has reportedly entered the portal. Over his three seasons at Michigan (2023-25), Morgan averaged 23.0 receptions for 188.7 yards and 1.3 touchdowns per season. The Wolverines, who went 9-4 this season, fired head coach Sherrone Moore after the regular season following an investigation determining that Moore had an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member" and recently hired former Utah Utes coach Kyle Whittingham as their new head coach.

Georgia Tech WR Bailey Stockton

Georgia Tech redshirt sophomore wide receiver Bailey Stockton announced on X Thursday he will enter the transfer portal. Stockton had 21 catches for 233 yards this season as No. 24 Georgia Tech finished 9-4 with a 25-21 loss to BYU in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday.

Georgia Tech previously has had quarterback Aaron Philo, defensive backs Christian Pritchett and D.J. Moore, linebacker Melvin Jordan IV and offensive linemen Peyton Joseph, Tana Alo-Tupuola and Ben Galloway announce plans to transfer.

Pittsburgh LB Rasheem Biles

Biles is going portaling, per ESPN. The two-time All-ACC honoree spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at Pittsburgh. This season, Biles totaled two forced fumbles, two interceptions — running back both of them for a touchdown — four passes defended, 4.5 sacks, an ACC-high 17.0 tackles for loss and 101 combined tackles.

Utah DE John Henry Daley

Daley announced that he's entering the portal after two seasons at Utah, a stint that was preceded by one season at BYU (2023). This season, Daley totaled two forced fumbles, 11.5 sacks, a Big 12-high 17.5 tackles for loss and 48 combined tackles. Daley's transfer comes in the wake of Utah head coach of 21 full-time seasons Kyle Whittingham stepping down and later becoming the next head coach at Michigan; Utes defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley was promoted to head coach.

James Madison QB Alonzo Barnett III

The Dukes' starting quarterback announced on Dec. 26 that he's entering the portal. Barnett was JMU's primary QB the past two years and with the program the last four seasons (2022-25). This season, one that saw the Dukes make the College Football Playoff, Barnett totaled 2,806 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 138.3 passer rating, while completing 58.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 589 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Texas RB Quintrevion "Tre" Wisner

Wisner, the Longhorns' eading rusher in each of the past two seasons, is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens, per ESPN. Wisner rushed for 597 yards as a junior this season, with another 146 yards receiving in just nine games. In a full 2024 campaign, he rushed for 1,064 yards in and 5 touchdowns in 226 attempts over 15 games, with 1,375 total yards from scrimmage. He is the fourth running back for Texas who has declared their intention to enter the portal, along with Jerrick Gibson, Rickey Stewart Jr. and 2023 Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year CJ Baxter Jr.

Baxter tore his ACL ahead of the 2024 season and played in just eight games in 2025 due to injury. Prioro to that, he was the No. 1 running back recruit in the Class of 2023, per 247 Sports. 

Iowa State QB Rocco Becht

The career-long Cyclone is off to the portal, per ESPN. Becht has been Iowa State's primary starting quarterback since 2023. The soon-to-be redshirt senior has averaged 3,069.7 passing yards, 21.3 passing touchdowns, 8.7 interceptions and a 141.1 passer rating per season since 2023, while completing 60.8% of his passes. Becht has also rushed for eight touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. Becht's departure comes in the wake of head coach Matt Campbell leaving Iowa State for Penn State after 10 seasons on the job.

Missouri QB Beau Pribula

After one season under center for Missouri, Pribula is hopping in the portal. Pribula started 10 games for Missouri this season; he missed two games due to an ankle injury. Pribula totaled 1,941 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 134.6 passer rating, while completing 67.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 297 yards and six scores. Pribula spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Penn State (2023-24) backing up Drew Allar.

North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker

Mestemaker is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple reports. Mestemaker was one of the best non-power conference quarterbacks in college football in 2025, with his 4,129 passing yards leading the nation. A redshirt freshman, Mestemaker is expected to be one of the more highly sought-after players in the portal after being a walk-on at UNT. He'll depart right as head coach Eric Morris leaves to become Oklahoma State's head coach.  

Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola

Raiola intends to enter the transfer portal, ESPN reported. Raiola has been a standout for Nebraska over his first two seasons in Lincoln, helping the Cornhuskers become bowl-eligible for the first time in several years. However, Raiola missed the final month of the 2025 season due to a leg injury. He has two years remaining of eligibility. 

Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby

Sorsby intends to enter the transfer portal but is also weighing the possibility of the 2026 NFL Draft, ESPN reported. Sorsby helped Cincinnati have a surprise rise early in the 2025 season, leading the Bearcats to a 7-1 start before finishing 7-5. Sorsby had 36 total touchdowns in 2025, showing strong ability as a dual-threat quarterback.

Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles

Chiles told ESPN that he's entering the transfer portal with one season of eligibility left. He was a highly-touted recruit in 2023, committing to Oregon State before transferring to MSU when Jonathan Smith became head coach in 2024.

Michigan State WR Nick Marsh

Marsh's agent told ESPN he plans to enter the transfer portal. Marsh, a sophomore, has logged 100 receptions for 1,311 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons in East Lansing, forming a strong connection with Chiles.

Florida QB DJ Lagway

Lagway intends to enter the transfer portal, ESPN reported. Lagway, a highly touted recruit who ranked as the third-best overall prospect in the 2024 class, per 247 Sports, initially lived up to the hype as a freshman. He went 6-1 as a starter in his irst season. However, Lagway and UF took a step back in 2025, posting a 4-8 record as head coach Bily Napier was fired in October. Lagway's 14 interceptions were the most by any SEC quarterback. 

Notre Dame QB Kenny Minchey

Minchey will head into the transfer portal when it opens in January, per CBS Sports. Minchey backed up CJ Carr in 2025 after finishing second to him in the QB battle. Minchey, a four-star recruit, has two years of eligibility remaining.

Kansas State RB Dylan Edwards

Edwards is expected to enter the transfer portal, ESPN reported in November. He was limited to playing in just four games this past season due to injury. He has 14 touchdowns in 28 career games.

Boston College QB Dylan Lonergan

Lonergan has announced he'll enter the transfer portal. The redshirt sophomore transferred to BC from Alabama last offseason, serving as the Eagles' starter for most of the 2025 season. Lonergan was a four-star recruit in 2023.

Harvard QB Jaden Craig

Craig told ESPN he intends to enter the transfer portal. He's expected to be one of the top FCS players in the portal this offseason, breaking Harvard's records for career passing yards (6,074) and touchdowns (52). He has one more season left of eligibility.

Georgia State QB TJ Finley

Finley announced on social media that he intends to enter the transfer portal for a remarkable sixth time and is seeking a seventh year of eligibility. The well-traveled quarterback spent his first year at LSU before spending two years at Auburn and a year each at Texas State, Western Kentucky and GSU; Finley also transferred to Tulane after WKU but never played a down after being suspended before the season. This season, Finley compiled 1,244 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 1-6 record, and will now look to add to his career totals of 7,342 yards, 43 touchdowns and 27 interceptions elsewhere.
