The college football bowl season kicks off Dec. 15 — with five games leading the charge — and culminates with the National Championship on Jan. 7 in Santa Clara, Calif.

The College Football Playoff semifinal games will take place on Dec. 29, with Clemson playing Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl and Alabama taking on Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. There will also be five bowl games on the schedule during New Year’s Day and six on New Year’s Eve.

Overall, there will be 40 bowl games in the next month and a half. The Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference lead the way with 11 teams represented in the games. The Big Ten Conference will have nine teams represented in bowls.
