Valencia, Spain – Marin Cilic of Croatia overcame a slow start to beat Slovakia's Martin Klizan in the first round of the Valencia Open on Sunday.
The seventh-seeded Cilic beat Klizan by a 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 margin.
David Ferrer is the top seed for this year's tournament. Former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero will retire after the event.
