HOUSTON – Jay Christophe led Texas Southern on a 75-yard, fourth-quarter drive, capped by his scoring dash from the 7, to secure a 20-16 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.
Trailing 10-7 at the half, MVSU scored a touchdown and a safety to take a 16-13 lead going into the fourth.
TSU (5-1, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored first when Eric Median kicked a 28-yard field goal. The Delta Devils (1-5, 0-4) took the lead when DeShawn Davis ran in from the 16 with 1:59 remaining in the first.
The Tiger defense stopped MVSU when Le'Tevi Wilcox picked up a fumble and returned it 40 yards for a score and a 10-7 advantage. Medina kicked another field goal in the third for a 13-7 advantage.
