ATLANTA – Chipper Jones hit his first homer of the season in the ninth inning on Wednesday night, giving the Braves' switch-hitter 1,500 RBIs for his career.
The homer off Randy Choate ended Florida's shutout bid after Josh Johnson carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
With his home run, Jones became only the third switch-hitter with 1,500 RBIs, joining Eddie Murray (1,917) and Mickey Mantle (1,509).
Jones reached his second significant career milestone of the opening homestand after he had two hits Friday night to reach 2,500.
Murray is the only other switch-hitter with at least 2,500 hits and 1,500 RBIs.
