San Diego, CA – Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL suffered during Sunday's season opener against Minnesota.
Kaeding suffered ligament damage in his left knee on the opening kickoff, which Percy Harvin returned 103 yards for a touchdown.
The Chargers are expected to bring kickers in for a tryout, but won't have any news until at least Tuesday.
Kaeding got twisted around attempting to make a tackle on the kickoff and eventually left the field on a cart. San Diego won the game, 24-17.
Mike Scifres handled punting and kicking duties with Kaeding out, drilling his first career field goal try -- a 40-yarder -- and converting three extra points.
Kaeding, in his eighth season out of Iowa, is 173-for-200 on field goal attempts in his career with the Chargers.
