BETHEL PARK, Pa. – Chad Voytik gave Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst something to think about over the summer during the Panthers' annual spring game Friday night.
The redshirt freshman quarterback completed 27 of 33 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns while getting extensive playing time, perhaps closing the gap on senior Tom Savage in the race to be the team's starter in the 2013 season opener against Florida State on Labor Day.
Savage, a former Rutgers star, completed 6 of 11 passes for 80 yards but failed to produce a touchdown while working a handful of series with the first team. Still, Chryst praised Savage's work during the spring.
Junior running back Isaac Bennett ran for 114 yards and a score and will likely move to the top of the depth chart after Rushel Shell left the team.
