Edinburgh, Scotland – Celtic failed to close the gap on 0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle Stadium.
Rudi Skacel broke a scoreless deadlock in the 58th minute with a well-struck shot from the edge of the penalty area that gave Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster no chance.
But things got worse for the visitors less than 10 minutes later when Kris Commons was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge on Adrian Mrowiec.
Despite playing down a man, Celtic pressed forward in an effort to equalize but was instead hit on the counter attack by Ryan Stevenson's breakaway goal.
The result leaves Celtic in third place, 10 points adrift of its Glasgow rivals, while Hearts moves into fourth and only three points back of the Hoops.
