Cech's status in doubt for Euro playoff

Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech could miss his team's upcoming Euro 2012 playoff match with Montenegro on Friday after he suffered a broken nose over the weekend while playing for Chelsea.

Cech sustained the injury in a 1-0 win over Blackburn when he collided with teammate Ashley Cole. And according to Czech Republic coach Michal Bilek, he will be fitted for a special mask in an effort to help him protect the injury.

The 29-year-old will join his national teammates on Wednesday but his participation in Friday's match is still unsure.

If Cech is unable to play, the starting nod would go to Hamburg goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny, who started in a 2-2 draw against Scotland in September.
