The AHL's Syracuse Crunch is putting the finishing touches on a hockey rink inside the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University.

Jim Boeheim Court is giving way to the Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday.

It will mark the first time ice hockey will be played under the Teflon dome. The day will include three games: a benefit featuring fire department teams from Syracuse and nearby Utica; a game between Division III schools Oswego State and Utica College; and the finale — the Crunch against the Utica Comets in the evening.

Crunch owner Howard Dolgon says the team already has sold enough tickets to break the record for the largest crowd to ever watch an AHL indoor game. That mark is 20,672 for the Kentucky-Carolina game on Jan. 18, 1997 in the Greensboro Coliseum.
