Carmelo Anthony passes LeBron James as Team USA's all-time leading scorer

Carmelo Anthony continues to etch his name into Team USA's record book, passing LeBron James on Wednesday to become the national team's all-time leading scorer.

Anthony was 12 points shy of James' mark of 273 when Team USA took the floor against Australia, and it didn't take long for the two-time gold medal-winner to get the record. Anthony scored 13 points in the first quarter as Team USA struggled to gain separation against Australia.

Anthony also surpassed James for second place on Team USA's all-time Olympic rebounding list.

Anthony hit critical shots in the fourth to help the U.S. avoid a scare against Australia, holding on for a 98-88 win. He finished with 31 points and eight rebounds.

Anthony might not have reached the mountaintop in the NBA yet -- still looking for his first NBA title -- but he'll go down as the best Olympic men's basketball player in Team USA history.
