St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman is back on the disabled list after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Berkman, who was on the 15-day DL from April 19 through May 12 with a strained left calf, was hurt Saturday while stretching to make a catch at first base on a routine ground ball hit to shortstop Rafael Furcal. The veteran was helped off the field and was initially diagnosed with a right knee strain.

The six-time All-Star is batting .333 with five doubles, a homer and four runs batted in this season, but has played just 13 games.

St. Louis has brought up first baseman Matt Adams from Triple-A Memphis. Adams was the Double-A Texas League's top player last year as well as the Cardinals' Minor League Player of the Year.

In 37 games for Memphis this season, the 23-year-old prospect was batting .340 with a team-high nine homers and 27 runs batted in.
