Detroit, MI – The St. Louis Cardinals have activated utilityman Skip Schumaker off the 15-day disabled list.
Schumaker had been sidelined since late May with a strained right hamstring. It's been a tough year for Schumaker, who started the season on the disabled list because of an oblique injury he sustained during spring training.
Entering Tuesday's action, Schumaker is batting .321 in 29 games with 12 runs batted in. He was 3-for-8 in a three-game minor league rehab assignment.
The Cardinals opened a roster spot after Sunday's game against Kansas City by optioning pitcher Maikel Cleto to Triple-A Memphis.
