Cardiff, Wales (SportsNetwork.com) - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made his first signing as Cardiff City manager on Wednesday, adding midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Heerenveen.

The 23-year-old spent the past six months with the Dutch side after playing under Solskjaer at Molde and Manchester United's reserve team.

"I've known Magnus for many years, having worked with him at Manchester United and then signing him for Molde," Solskjaer told the club's official website.

"While I was there I had to sell him as he was our best player - and now I feel lucky to get to sign him again for Cardiff City for a reasonable price. I see this as money well spent."

Eikrem failed to make an impact at United and was limited to four substitute appearances in all competitions in his time with the Red Devils.

But he emerged as a key player at Molde, scoring four goals in 26 starts in his first season in Norway.

Eikrem moved to Heerenveen this past summer and scored two goals in 13 Eredivisie matches, while also earning his first cap for Norway in January 2012.
