WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Washington Capitals signed right wing Troy Brouwer to a two-year contract, the National Hockey League (NHL) team said on Wednesday.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed but local media said the deal is worth $2.35 million per season.
Brouwer, who helped the Chicago Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup championship in 2010, had 17 goals and a career-high 19 assists for the Blackhawks last season.
Taken in the seventh round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Brouwer had spent his entire career in Chicago, scoring 49 goals and adding 54 assists in 238 games.
