VANCOUVER – A lot was made about how good a regular season the Vancouver Canucks had – they captured the franchise's first Presidents' Trophy, Jennings Trophy and were Northwest Division champs for the third consecutive year.
However, one thing this group hasn't dealt with yet this season is a must-win situation, they'll do so Tuesday night at Rogers Arena when the Blackhawks and Canucks battle in Game 7.
"That doesn't really matter, we go in to games like we got to win every one of them and we've done that for 82 games plus playoffs," said Alexandre Burrows attempting to downplay the situation. "We have the same mindset if we establish a good game on the ice, we'll get the result that we're looking for."
The Canucks lost three in a row just once this season, and went winless in four straight once this season as well.
"There's always been times when the pressure is on, you've lost a few games, you really need to go out there and put your best effort on the ice and we've done that all year long," said captain Henrik Sedin. "It hasn't been of this magnitude, but at the same time we've been in this situation before."
Since 2003 the Canucks are 2-4 in Game 7 situations, all of which have taken place in Vancouver. Their last Game 7 win came on April 23, 2007 when the Canucks finished off the Dallas Stars 4-1 in a seven-game Western Conference Quarterfinal.
The April 23 win was also the lone Game 7 Roberto Luongo has taken part in through 40 playoff appearances.
Vancouver's last loss in Game 7 came during the 2004 Western Conference Quarterfinals, when the Calgary Flames defeated the Canucks 3-2 in double overtime.
In nine Game 7s all-time, the Canucks are 5-4.
Vancouver and Chicago have never faced one another in a Game 7. Chicago has taken the previous two playoff meetings between these two teams in six games.
