Canucks bring back Alberts, Tanev

The Vancouver Canucks made two moves on Thursday, re-signing unrestricted free-agent defenseman Andrew Alberts and restricted free-agent defenseman Chris Tanev.

Alberts, 32, is heading into his ninth NHL campaign. He has spent the last three-plus seasons with the Canucks, picking up four goals and nine assists over 124 appearances.

A former sixth-round pick of the Bruins out of Boston College back in 2001, Alberts has logged 449 games of NHL experience with Boston, Philadelphia, Carolina and Vancouver since 2005, totaling eight goals and 55 points with 492 penalty minutes.

The 23-year-old Tanev totaled two goals and five assists in 38 games last season, and has racked up two goals and 10 points over 92 games in parts of three NHL seasons in Vancouver.
