Montreal, QC – In the midst of their worst start in 70 years, the Montreal Canadiens fired assistant coach Perry Pearn.
Coming into Wednesday's game against the Flyers, the Canadiens' only win this season came on October 9 against the Winnipeg Jets, and the team had yet to win a game on home ice in five tries.
"I want to thank Perry Pearn for his contribution to the Canadiens' organization over the past three years. He remains a very knowledgeable coach with a strong work ethic and is a true professional. I offered Perry to remain with the organization in a different role," said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier.
Pearn joined the organization as an assistant coach in July of 2009. He was in his third season with the club.
