Buxton's hand not broken after HBP

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton has been taken out of the game against the White Sox because of a bruised left hand after getting hit by a pitch.

Buxton was plunked by starter Mat Latos in the bottom of the third inning. He stayed in the game after being examined by head athletic trainer Dave Pruemer and manager Paul Molitor and proceeded to steal second base. But Molitor sent Max Kepler to center field for the top of the fourth.

The Twins said X-rays on Buxton's hand were negative. His status was announced as day to day.

The 22-year-old Buxton is off to a rough start, batting .167 with 13 strikeouts in 24 at-bats.
