LEWISBURG, Pa. – Mike Muscala had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help Bucknell hold on for a 66-64 victory over Lehigh Sunday night in a Patriot League tournament semifinal.
The Bison (24-8) won their ninth straight, their 18th in the last 19, and earned a spot in the league championship for the first time since 2007. They'll play Friday against Lafayette after having beaten Lehigh three times in a season for the first time since 1998-99.
C.J. McCollum had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Lehigh (16-15), which trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half before cutting the deficit to six, 36-30, at halftime. The Mountain Hawks twice tied the score in the second half, but never led.
McCollum had one last chance to tie the score, but missed a layup with 8 seconds left. Muscala rebounded, was immediately fouled, and made both resulting free throws for a secure 66-62 lead.
