Browns QB Johnny Manziel goes back to school, throws out first pitch on day off

CLEVELAND – Johnny Manziel went back to school on a day off from practice.

The Browns' rookie quarterback and Cleveland's other first-year players attended an event Wednesday at a Berea elementary school, where they kicked off a community service program. Welcomed by loud screams inside a packed gymnasium, Manziel smiled and slapped hands with dozens of kids before introducing himself to the crowd by saying, "I'm Johnny Manziel, and I'm from Texas."

Manziel happily signed autographs and posed for photographs. He expected the screaming, saying "nothing much catches me off guard anymore."

Later, the former Heisman Trophy winner was scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Indians hosted the Boston Red Sox.

Manziel wasn't worried about making a completion on the diamond, saying it will be the third time he has thrown out a first pitch.
