Newark, NJ – New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur to-10 days with a right shoulder issue, but it will not require surgery.
The club made the announcement on Wednesday that the 39-year-old, who suffered the injury in the first period of last Thursday's 2-1 shootout victory over the Kings, will finally be forced to sit out long enough for the problem to heal itself.
Brodeur has not taken the ice since that contest. Johan Hedberg subbed for the franchise icon and won both the LA game and a subsequent 3-2 shootout decision in Nashville on Saturday night.
New Jersey returns home to host San Jose on Friday, then begins a four-game road trip at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Keith Kinkaid was recalled from Albany of the American Hockey League on Monday and is expected to serve as Hedberg's backup.
