Persistent waves of heavy showers forced the postponement of Saturday night's Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The race has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

The night began with the start of the race delayed due to rain and lightning. The field then ran 38 green-flag laps before heavy rain began, causing an 84-minute rain delay.

After the track was dried, the field began to circulate again under yellow, but shortly before 11 p.m., another huge storm cell moved over the Tennessee short track. That was enough to call a halt to the proceedings.

The forecast for tomorrow afternoon is for a 50-60 percent chance of rain, according to wether.com. The good news is the rain is expected to clear out by tomorrow night.
