The Milwaukee Brewers signed veteran right-handed reliever Blaine Boyer to a minor-league contract Friday and invited him to big-league spring training camp.
Boyer, who turns 35 in July, has pitched nine seasons in the majors with the Braves, Cardinals, Diamondbacks, Mets, Padres and Twins. He appeared in 68 games for Minnesota in 2015, posting a 2.49 ERA and 1.246 WHIP in 65 innings.
Boyer made the Twins last season after signing a minor-league deal with a spring training invite. He ended up leading the team in holds with 19 and from April 17-May 19 had a 17 2/3 innings scoreless streak.
In his career, Boyer has pitched in 333 games -- all in relief -- with a 4.22 ERA and 1.367 WHIP.
The Brewers now have 18 non-roster players who will be in spring training camp, including seven pitchers.
