Atlanta Braves slugger Evan Gattis took home his second straight National League Rookie of the Month award after being named the Senior Circuit's top first-year player for May on Monday.

Gattis claimed the honor once more after leading all MLB rookies with 16 RBI and swatting six home runs, tied with San Diego's Jedd Gyorko for the most in May. The catcher/outfielder batted .303 with a .683 slugging percentage over a combined 22 games.

The 26-year-old has belted 12 homers, tied for fifth-most among all NL players, and knocked in 32 runs to go along with a .269 average over 45 games thus far during his debut campaign.

Gattis had six homers, 16 RBI and a .566 slugging percentage to win the award for April.

Other rookies considered for this month's distinction included Gyorko, Miami's Marcell Ozuna, St. Louis pitchers Trevor Rosenthal and Shelby Miller, Hyun-Jin Ryu of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona's Didi Gregorius.
