The second-leading scorer on the Boston College women's soccer team has been barred by the school for playing in an NCAA tournament game against Penn State for online comments she made about the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Athletic Director Brad Bates said in a statement that Stephanie McCaffrey "used very poor judgment and exhibited insensitivity" for comments on her Twitter account.

McCaffrey sent out 10 tweets referencing the Penn State showers and former assistant football coach Sandusky, who was convicted in June of abusing 10 boys.

Bates said in a statement that "this type of behavior is not tolerated among our student-athletes." He says McCaffrey has apologized.

Boston College plays Penn State on Friday. McCaffrey, a sophomore, has nine goals and six assists for the 10-5-3 Eagles.
