Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Charlotte Bobcats center Brendan Haywood will miss at least three months because of a stress fracture in his left foot.

The Bobcats said Haywood will undergo surgery next week to have two screws placed in the bone to help it heal. After 12 weeks of immobilization, further tests will determine when he will be able to resume activities.

Haywood joined the Bobcats last season after Dallas designated him as its amnesty player. He averaged 3.5 points with 4.8 rebounds in 61 games, 17 of which were starts.

The 33-year-old North Carolina product has averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 794 career NBA games, including 548 starts, with Washington, Dallas and Charlotte.

A first-round pick in 2001, Haywood spent the first 8 1/2 seasons of his career with the Wizards, who dealt him to the Mavericks in February 2010.
