Blue Jays place Izturis on DL, recall Goins

Bronx, NY – The Toronto Blue Jays have placed infielder Maicer Izturis on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle.

Toronto recalled infielder Ryan Goins from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the roster spot.

Izturis suffered the injury during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

The 32-year-old Izturis is hitting .236 with five homers and 32 RBI in 107 games this season.

Goins was hitting .257 with 22 doubles, six homers and 46 RBI in 111 games with Buffalo this year.
