Bronx, NY – Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees with a right calf contusion.
Lawrie suffered the injury in the third inning after he made a diving effort over a railing while trying to track down a Mark Teixeira foul ball on the third base side.
As he was flipping over the railing of a camera well, Lawrie's right leg connected with a lower railing as he was falling to the ground and he had to be helped off the field.
He was sent for a precautionary X-ray, but it came up negative and he is listed as day-to-day.
Yunel Escobar replaced him in the lineup and played shortstop while Omar Vizquel switched from short to third base.
