The Blue Jackets added center Dane Byers to the roster on an emergency recall from their minor league affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

Columbus general manager Scott Howson made the announcement Monday.

Byers, 25, has seven goals and eight assists with the Falcons this season. He leads the club in penalty minutes and is second in power play goals, with four.

A native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, he has played in six career NHL games with the New York Rangers, scoring one goal.

He was the Rangers’ fourth pick, 48th overall, in the 2004 entry draft.
