The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Adrian Aucoin to a one-year contract worth $2 million with the potential for bonuses on Sunday.

Aucoin, who turns 39 on July 3, spent the last three seasons in Phoenix, where he was a plus-34.

The veteran defenseman has played 17 seasons in the league with Vancouver, Tampa Bay, the New York Islanders, Chicago, Calgary and Phoenix. In 1,072 career games, he has netted 121 goals and 395 points.

Last season, Aucoin played in 64 games and was a plus-14, while recording nine points for the Pacific Division champions. In 11 playoff games, he had two assists and was a plus-four.
