Blue Jackets place F Morin on IR

Columbus, OH ( - The Columbus Blue Jackets placed forward Jeremy Morin on injured reserve Wednesday.

Morin will be sidelined indefinitely with an upper-body injury, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Kekalainen said Morin complained of an accelerated heart rate and was taken by ambulance to a Columbus hospital during the second intermission of the Blue Jackets' 4-3 win over Washington on Tuesday.

Kekalainen said Morin's resting heart rate wasn't going down but that the situation was "nothing serious" and he was expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday, according to the paper.

"I'm not sure if he's going to need further tests or not, but everything was fine," Kekalainen said. "His heart rate calmed while he was being tested at the hospital."

The 23-year-old Morin has a goal and two assists in 17 games for the Blue Jackets since being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks on Dec. 14.
