The Toronto Blue Jays saw two of their primary offensive threats forced off the field early in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

In the fifth, third baseman Josh Donaldson left after taking a knee to the head on a play at second base. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported on-air that Donaldson passed the concussion protocol and will be re-evaluated prior to Friday's Game 2.

Jose Bautista, meanwhile, clubbed a booming solo home run in the sixth inning to bring the Jays to within one run of the Rangers.

After Bautista appeared to double over in pain after the bottom of the eighth inning, he was replaced in right field by Dalton Pompey. Perhaps fortunately for Toronto, his condition doesn't appear to be serious:

Considering the Rangers also lost a key contributor on Thursday (third baseman Adrian Beltre to a back issue), this series is shaping up to be an intriguing one on the health front.
