Art Bernardi scored 22 points as Houston Baptist defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 70-55 Sunday in the Rainbow Classic.

The Huskies (2-0) pulled away with a 10-0 run that gave them a 34-20 lead in the first half, then held the Hawks (0-2) scoreless for a stretch of 7:52 during a 9-0 second-half run. Marcus Davis, who had 13 points, closed that spurt with a dunk that gave Houston Baptist a 54-33 lead.

Kyree Jones led Maryland-Eastern Shore with 28 points. He was 9 for 12 from the field, including 4 of 7 beyond the arc. Olantunji Kosile added 14 points off the bench for the Hawks.

Houston Baptist shot 58 percent from the field and 6 of 11 on 3-point attempts. That helped offset 4 of 12 shooting from the free-throw line.
