After suffering its first defeat of the season last week, Benfica bounced back nicely on Sunday, posting a 2-1 result over Gil Vicente at the Est���dio da Luz.

Benfica lost just once over the course of last season, but suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Maritimo last Sunday and fell behind again this week as Diogo Viana opened the scoring for Gil Vicente in the 69th minute.

But the responded in dramatic fashion as goal from Lazar Markovic and Lima in second-half stoppage time allowed Benfica to came away with an important three points.

The result gives last year's Europa League finalists their first win of the season, while Gil Vicente suffered its first defeat of the young campaign.

Elsewhere in Portugal on Sunday, Lionn and Ahmed Mahgoub scored as Rio Ave rolled to a 2-0 victory over Vitoria, while Nacional and Guimaraes battled to a 1-1 draw.

Evandro and Pedro scored in a three-minute span as 10-man Estroil held on for a 2-1 result over Arouca, while Porto cruised to a 3-0 drubbing of Maritimo.

Saturday's action saw 10-man Olhanense hold on for a 1-0 result over Pacos Ferreira, while Sporting Lisbon rolled to an easy 4-0 rout of Academia.

On Monday, Aderlan Santos netted the winner in stoppage time to lift Braga to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Belenenses to earn its second win of the season.
