Carlos Beltran made a grand-slam saving catch in the second inning of Game 1, but the Cardinals right fielder exited with an apparent rib injury as a result.

With the Cardinals already trailing the Red Sox 4-0, Beltran went back on David Ortiz's deep fly ball to right field. He made the catch at the wall, but not before running into it and coming up in pain. David Ross scored on the play to give Boston a 5-0 lead.

Beltran, who was playing in his first World Series game, was pulled for Jon Jay the next inning. Jay went to center field and Shane Robinson moved over to right.
