Stacey Bedell rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns to lead Stony Brook to a 35-14 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Stony Brook broke away from a 14-all tie and took control in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points. The defense shut down Lyle McCombs, who rushed for 188 yards in the first half. He was limited to just 14 yards for the rest of the game. His 202 rushing yards was the most allowed by Stony Brook (5-6, 4-3 Colonial Athletic Association) this season.

McCombs also had 26 yards receiving for Rhode Island (0-11, 0-7).

Tyrice Beverette sacked James Caparell and Julian Quintin recovered the fumble, returning it 25 yards for the score and a 28-14 lead with 6:51 remaining in the game.

Bedell, who had a 75-yard run in the first quarter, broke for a 56-yard score with 4:16 remaining.
