Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng will be out for several weeks with a groin injury.
The Bundesliga leaders announced that the 27-year-old ruptured a muscle in his groin as Bayern returned to league action with a 2-1 victory over Hamburg on Friday.
And Germany international Boateng will spend a number of weeks on the sidelines.
A statement on the club's official website said: "In Friday's first league match of 2016 the center-back ruptured a muscle in the groin and faces several weeks on the sidelines.
"That was the diagnosis following an MRI scan in Munich on Saturday."
