Moscow, Russia – Marion Bartoli of France withdrew from her ending WTA Championships.
Bartoli had a chance to claim the last spot in the exclusive eight-player field for next week's event in Istanbul with a title in Moscow. She was set to play Elena Vesnina in Friday's quarterfinals before pulling out.
Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Li Na, Vera Zvonareva and Samantha Stosur were the first seven singles qualifiers.
