AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Auburn starting cornerback Blake Countess has been called for targeting and tossed from the sixth-ranked Tigers' game against Jacksonville State.

Late in the first half, Jacksonville State quarterback Eli Jenkins was sliding at the end of a run when Countess led with his helmet on a hit.

Officials confirmed the targeting call in a video review and Countess, a senior, was escorted off the field.

It was the second lost player from Auburn's secondary. In the first half, cornerback Josh Holsey was helped off the field with an apparent leg injury. He did not return in the half.
