After coming to terms with new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele last week, Auburn continued to fill out its staff by naming Wesley McGriff as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach. McGriff has worked the last three seasons for the New Orleans Saints as a secondary coach.

Auburn's coaching vacancies were left by the departure of Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson to South Carolina. Tiger head coach Gus Malzahn announced McGriff's hiring Thursday.

"I'm very pleased to add Wesley to our staff at Auburn," Malzahn said. "He has a tremendous amount of experience and success in developing players at the college and NFL levels. Wesley's a true professional and a man of character that will be a great coach and mentor for our players."

McGriff has over 24 years of experience as a coach and has worked at Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Miami before coaching with the Saints.

"I'm really excited to be working with Coach Malzahn and his staff at Auburn," McGriff said. "I've always had a high regard for Auburn and the football program and I'm looking forward to helping them win championships."
