Sao Paulo, Brazil – Atletico PR climbed into the top four in the Brasileiro on Sunday as Ederson scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the club to a 2-0 win over second-place Botafogo.
Following a scoreless first half, Ederson opened the scoring in the 47th minute and then doubled his tally nine minutes later for Atletico.
Both teams had a player sent off in the final three minutes, but Botafogo was unable to find the net, and the result drops them into second place, two points back of new leaders Cruzeiro.
Atletico moves to within two points of Botafogo with the result and sits four points from first place.
Cruzeiro took advantage of Botafogo's defeat with a 2-0 win at Ponte Preta behind goals from Dede and Borges, while Gremio remains in third place following a 1-0 victory at Flamengo with the lone goal coming in the seventh minute from Para.
Santos doubled up on Vitoria, 2-0, Criciuma used first-half goals from Sueliton and Fabinho in a 2-1 win against Coritiba, while Atletico Mineiro snatched a 2-1 win over Portuguesa through Jesus Datolo's 88th-minute goal.
Last-place Nautico sustained its 10th defeat in 14 games in a 2-0 setback at Bahia, Andre Felipe netted the equalizing goal in the 54th minute of Vasco da Gama's 1-1 draw with Corinthians, Sao Paulo topped Fluminense, 2-1, and Internacional overcame a two-goal deficit in the second half to earn a 3-3 draw with Goias as Leandro Damiao scored in the 85th minute to level the match.
