Adebayor is unlikely to reprise his role in the Spurs squad heading into the upcoming season, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to freshen up his side in preparation for an assault on the Premier League top four.
The Togo international featured in just 10 Spurs games last season, but has scored 96 goals in 225 Premier League appearances at Arsenal, Manchester City and the north London club overall. Having been linked with a move to Villa all summer, Adebayor was spotted at the club's training ground on Tuesday, with a reunion with his former Spurs mentor Sherwood on the cards.
Despite featuring just once in the 2013/14 season under previous boss Andre Villas-Boas before December, Adebayor finished as Spurs' top scorer in all competitions after experiencing an upturn in form under Sherwood's tutelage, with 14 goals following in his next 25 games. Villa assistant Ray Wilkins admitted the club were hopeful of completing a loan deal for Adebayor on Monday, with the striker set to become the club's eighth signing of the summer after the arrival of Jose Angel Crespo.
