A's claim LHP Blackley off waivers

Anaheim, CA – The Oakland Athletics have claimed left-handed pitcher Travis Blackley off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.

Blackley, who started the season at Triple-A Fresno, appeared in four games for the parent club this season, posting a 9.00 ERA over five innings.

To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's transferred right-handed pitcher Joey Devine to the 60-day disabled list. He underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow April 10.
