Oakland, CA – The Oakland Athletics activated pitcher Bartolo Colon from the 15-day disabled list for Tuesday's start against the Boston Red Sox.
Colon was placed on the DL on June 23 with a strained right oblique. He was 6-7 with a 4.22 earned run average in 15 starts prior to the injury this season.
Oakland also designated left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes for assignment. Fuentes was 2-2 with five saves, three blown saves, and a 6.84 ERA in 26 relief appearances with the A's.
The 36-year-old Fuentes has 204 saves and a 3.58 ERA over 12 major league seasons.
