Jake Arrieta will make his second start for the Chicago Cubs after the team recalled the pitcher from Triple-A Iowa on Friday.

The 27-year-old right-hander, who was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles on July 2, will take the mound when the Cubs begin a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.

Arrieta made his first appearance for the Cubs in a spot start against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 30. He allowed one run on two hits and three walks in six innings, but did not factor into the decision.

Chicago optioned pitcher Eduardo Sanchez to the Iowa to make room for Arrieta on the roster.

Arrieta spent his first four seasons with the Orioles and over 70 major league appearances, has posted a 20-25 record with a 5.39 ERA.
