Sean Armand came off the bench to score 15 points and Mike Glover had 10 points and 17 rebounds as the Gaels held off Niagara 72-66 on Friday night for their fifth straight win.

Iona (13-6, 7-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led 33-27 at the half, then Glover and Kyle Smyth opened the second half with layups to increase the lead to 10 points.

The Purple Eagles (4-16, 1-7) then launched a 15-5 run, including three 3-pointers to tie it at 42, but could get no closer.

Armand answered with three consecutive 3s in a span of 1:04 to give Iona a nine-point lead with 13:30 to go.

After Niagara got within two points, at 59-57 with 5:40 left, the Gaels pulled away with a 5-0 run. Iona then hit 8 of 8 from the free-throw line in the final 1:02 to seal the win.

Eric Williams had 18 points and Anthony Nelson 17 for the Purple Eagles, who have lost three in a row.
