WHAT'S AT STAKE
Stanford is coming off a 17-13 loss at Washington that ended its undefeated run and has no more room for error to stay in contention for the Pac-12 North title. Arizona has lost two straight after a strong start to Rich Rodriguez's tenure, including a 59-38 win over Oklahoma State.
KEY MATCHUP
Stanford QB Josh Nunes against Arizona's secondary. The redshirt junior had his worst game of the season against Washington, completing 18 of 37 passes for 170 yards and an interception, often underthrowing receivers or misfiring completely. That allowed the Huskies to stack the line of scrimmage and hold Stanford's usually stout running game to only 68 yards and never let the offense score a touchdown.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Arizona: RB Ka'Deem Carey. The sophomore is averaging 107.6 yards rushing, ranking third in the Pac-12 and 18th in the country, to go with eight total touchdowns. Stanford has the No. 1 run defense in the conference and third best in the nation, allowing 65.2 yards rushing per game.
Stanford: WR Ty Montgomery. The sophomore is easily Stanford's most athletic and talented offensive player but has little to show for it this season. Montgomery has missed several catchable balls, including one on the final possession against Washington that would've at least put the Cardinal in the red zone. He's tied with tight end Zach Ertz (259 yards) for the team lead with 15 catches but for only 139 yards.
