Henri Anier enjoyed a memorable debut in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday as he scored in the 83rd minute to help Motherwell to a 1-0 win at Hibernian.

Hibs was still recovering after yielding seven goals to Swedish side Malmo in Europa League qualifying 10 days ago, but the defense held off Motherwell for the first 80 minutes of the match.

Hibernian goalkeeper Ben Williams produced a fine save on John Sutton to deny the striker in a one-on-one chance moments earlier, but he couldn't prevent Anier's debut goal seven minutes from time.

The goal came from a headed clearance that saw Hibernian's defense react late, allowing Anier to race behind the back line and beat Williams with a comfortable finish.

Sunday's other contest saw St Johnstone claim a 1-0 win over financially- troubled Hearts as Steve May struck the lone goal in the 25th minute.
